Website Launch & O1 steel

OK, well, here goes nothing! Officially launching a web store to sell my work. I’ve got 5 finished knives that will go live along with the rest of the site. I’ll be doing my best to always have some inventory available, but if there’s nothing up for sale or you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for; please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask what’s coming up. Or even start the conversation on a custom one of a kind order just for you.

All my blades are made in O1 carbon tool steel for now - it’s what’s locally available and I’m familiar with it so I can rely on predictable heat treatment and durability. They get incredibly sharp and stay that way for quite a long time. Regular stropping or honing will increase the sharpening interval again. O1 takes a beautiful patina over time - a gradual darkening/blueing of the steel as food juices react with the surface. This does not affect the strength or sharpness of the blade (its not the same as rust. Rust is decidedly bad). This patina usually becomes a unique badge of honour for most knife owners. Representing the specific character that knife has built over hours of use.

I’m working on getting the shop setup to work on stainless steels - which have much more specific heat treating recipies. I’ll be investing in a computerized kiln and some of the more specialized tools required to make a quality blade out of stainless closer to the end of the year. So you can look out for the first blades made out of Nitro V to be landing late January/Early February 2020.
